Never making it to Wisconsin before - it was pretty neat to be back out in the mid west. This place reminded me a lot of montana - but much more flat. It was a big city in the middle of nowhere between two lakes! Kristen got to show me around her new hometown and all the little places she likes to go to and things to see.
She even toured me around her work! Which was one of the coolest places I have ever seen as a place to work! They had the precious!
It was nice being able to check out some of the things she gets to do in her life mid way through the country and interesting how similar and different they were at the same time from things on the east coast.
I think one of the coolest things was the fact that its winter a bit longer in this part of the country and frozen lakes are a normal thing. Along with Ice Fishing and skating. Back on the east coast (at least in the south) those are a bit of a rarity!
We also got to go to a pretty neat place nearby called Devils Lake. This place was a fair sized lake that was still partially frozen over with some hiking trails that went up on the bluffs and overlooked on the lake. It was BEAUTIFUL. It reminded me of places you would see in the movies!
At several parts i thought i was in the Lord of the Rings walking up the stairs of Cirith Ungol!
Once at the top you could see a brilliant view of the lake and at some points you could see some folks doing some rock climbing up the bluffs. This would be an awesome place to have a summer picnic or just hang out and enjoy the nature.
There were several little cave areas as well and the trail went around the entire lake which was really neat. It had a very similar feel to Two Medicine lake in Glacier National Park.
It was a great way to spend the day and an awesome time!
