The Outer Banks
Day 3 by Kenny & Kristen

We woke up in emerald isle and went out to grab some breakfast. The hard part on a motorcycle trip is the lack of space to carry things. We couldn't carry much of any food or water. After this though, we had a great chance to walk on the beach and enjoy some decent weather after the rain.

After packing up, we headed out towards our next destination which was Carolina beach. This day's drive was the least favorite ride of the trip. We had to circle through jacksonville and then back to the coast. This did give us the chance to swing through surf city and topsail beach though which was probably one of our favorite beach stops. We grabbed some lunch and took a walk in the sand to soak it up while we could and then we hit the road once more.

After another hour and a half of driving we finally arrived in carolina beach. We hit our campsite and made camp and in spite of having such good weather this day, we abandoned our things at the camp and drove the bike straight to the beach to play around.

This was by far my favorite (and one of Kristens as well) beach stops. The sand wasn't crowded and the water was cool be not freezing. You could walk 100 yards out and still only be in water chest high, which led to some great body surfing. I don't remember having so much fun at body surfing as i did this day. Most my memories consisted of shells and sand rubbing my stomach raw. But on this day, it was as good as surfing!

We then walked around and found a nice little food shop and grabbed some grub to each on the little boardwalk swings that the beach has. It was a great way to finish off the evening.

After the beach we headed back to the campsite and tried to build a fire so we could make some banana boats. A common treat whenever you camp out with Kristen - they have become as prominent at campfires as s'mores for her. The problem was the wood seemed moist from humidity so getting it to catch took longer than expected. Eventually by the time we were ready for bed, the fire was rolling good. So I stayed up a bit to keep after it (since i was having a rough time sleeping anywho from the heat) and kristen headed to bed. THis was our last night at the beach and the next day we would be packing up and heading home.

This was an awesome trip and i wish we had more time to spend in each place. I would definitely recommend making the trip - whether it's a car or bike it will be a great adventure.
