Today we woke up around 7 to make it to the ferry to drop off our car and hop on the boat to head towards Santorini. The cool part is for our sketchy car rental, we just called someone named Stella and she came and picked up the car – at least that’s what we are all hoping.
The boat ride was pretty neat but more like a plane ride. That boat was hauling! But there was not much room to walk around and explore. The ride was only about 2 hours so you just sit most of the time. You were also going too fast for things to be nice on the top deck so there wasn’t much for the outer deck.
Once we got off the boat, we had a ride waiting for us and took the bus back to where we would stay in Oia. And let me tell you. This place was AWESOME. Just like I’m sure any other place would be in this area; we were in what was like a cave on the hillside. We had a brilliant view of the water and Island and a just fantastic room for our next few days!
It was Around noon at this point, so we decided to find some lunch around the area. We struck out and found this super sweet Gyro shop and got some of the cheapest and best food on the trip so far - score!
Our original plan was to find a boat ride to the volcano and hot springs but that kinda fell through a bit. We decided to save that for the next day and instead we went down to the Aumedi Bay, swam out to the church on the Island – Agios Nikolaos – and cliff jumped! The water was great and there was a bit of wind that made it chilly, but the experience was well worth it!
Once we finished we walked back up to our room and we split ways for a bit. Chad and Emily went off to roam the area while Kristen and I went to the supermarket to grab some food. We had decided we were going to cook dinner and eat out on our porch of the room=]. So, we made our way to the market and picked up some sausage, peppers, onions and risotto and made some dinner =].
After dinner, we cleaned up our mess and headed out to end the night with some ice cream. Once we finished up, we headed back to the room to do some last-minute planning for our next day of adventures. The views you get from some of these places is just absolutely brilliant. This place is one of the coolest places I have ever been to for sure!
