Today we woke up around sunrise and started packing up our things to head out of Santorini and back to Athens. We got to enjoy breakfast one last time while watching the sun come up and we almost decided to go back to cliff jump a few times but the weather was a bit chilly and really windy so we decided to make a few last walks around Oia before setting out.
We grabbed one more euro before getting on the bus back to the port where we would catch our last ferry. The bus ride took about 40 minutes and when we arrived at the port we ran in to one big mess of the boats. It turns out that the boat before ours was late which caused confusion on our boat but in reality, our boat arrived on time and departed on time. There were just a million-other people hanging around the gate which made it pretty hectic when we were trying to board.
Once we were actually on board our ship, we learned that small ships are not favorable for long sea travel. Our ride only took about 5 hours to get back to Piraeus, but that boat was a rockin’. This boat was also about 5 times smaller than our original ferries and you really felt the waves rocking the boat. We could also tell because almost every fourth person was puking on the boat so there was a mass of sounds and smells that were not the most favorable. Luckily, no one in our crew had that problem.
After walking back to the metro, we hopped on the train and headed back in to Athens, we were actually a bit ahead of schedule and we clocked in to our room which was another Airbnb and got our things dropped off and headed back out to the Plakas neighborhood to find some dinner.
After Dinner, we grabbed one last taste of Greece with some Gelato and walked back to our room to shower up and get ready for the morning. We would be heading to the airport at 3am to catch our 6am flight. Greece was an awesome time and I recommend giving this place some attention. I never really thought of traveling to Greece before but this place really is spectacular.
