One day last summer I had an idea. And that idea was to take a motorcycle road trip from Raleigh all the way to Corolla Beach on the outer banks and then cruise as far south as I could along the shore and back. I mentioned it to Kristen and then Boom here we are about to set off on a long weekend to make the journey. ![blogPics](/static/img/obx1/obx0.jpg "The beginning of the motorcycle trip!")We had checked the weather early on and the weekend was looking to be rough with heat and rain, but Kristen was all in for the motorcycle so that's what we took. The plan was to camp each night to be as “drifter” ish as we could. ![blogPics](/static/img/obx1/obx1.jpg "First beach stop")After about 4 hours we finally made it to nags head and the weather was excellent. The water was freezing but the sand was warm! We headed to our campsite to pitch up home base and drop off our bags to cruise a bit easier. ![blogPics](/static/img/obx1/obx2.jpg "First Outer Banks Lighthouse")After we pitched our tent and camp, we headed up north to corolla beach to check out the lighthouse and maybe grab some dinner. One our way up we drove through several towns that were all pretty crowded with the the standard beach house. We did however get some cool ideas for things to do early the next day which was hang gliding at jockey ridge state park. ![blogPics](/static/img/obx1/obx3.jpg "Beach Camping")We decided to grab some dinner in duck and head back to our camp (which was a ways a way in Oregon inlet). We were just in time as we started to hit some rain as soon as we hit the campground. This did help drop the temperature for a bit, but for the most part we had a hot and humid night.
