Hawaii, a place with so much beauty and character that the internet is full of pictures and stories already. But I feel the need to contribute here. I was lucky enough to take a trip to Oahu where one of my best Friends , Kevin, was stationed for the military as a doctor. This place is full of beauty and people, lots of people. But even so, you don't seem to mind as much knowing that you are in paradise. On the first day we took a trip down to Kailua beach to good off. The beach was super pretty, bright sand and brighter blue water. An excellent spot!

Our first trip was to Lulumahu falls. The journey was a bit short but it did teach us quickly about the terrain. Mainly - this place gets muddy. REAL muddy. The mountains often have clouds that pass over and collect the moisture and rain so the lower bits are often soaked in a thick mud. A great hike though with a pretty waterfall to check out at the end!

There is a trail that curves around the high cliffs that takes you directly to the lighthouse. The view is simply amazing as you get to see the deep blue waters along with a crisp cliffside and one noticeable lighthouse on the edge. This place was pretty. A bit of a popular hiking area but worth the sight. There were also several paragliders flying around the mountains which gave for a neat view as well.

We took some time to drive up the coast of the eastern side of the island to the La'ie Point state park. The drive was pretty and would bed a great spot for some sunrise gazing.
![blogPics](/static/img/hawaii/h4.jpg "Kristen arrives in Hawaii!") Speaking of sunrises, we also had a goal to watch the sunrise from the pillboxes towards Lanikai beach. We managed to make it up early and head over that way with plenty of time to enjoy the sunrise. This was a beautiful spot to view the event. There are two WW2 aged concrete boxes on the mountain which you can set on and get a perfect view =D

But we did get a good glance at one of our next adventures which was to kayak over to the Moke Islands right off the coast!
